Indications/Uses
Parenteral nutrition for adult & childn >2 yr when oral or intestinal nutrition is not possible, inadequate or contraindicated.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dosage. IV Adult 27-40 mL/kg daily. Childn 2-10 yr 14-28 mL/kg daily. Max: 40 mL/kg daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to eggs or soy protein. Severe hyperlipidaemia & liver insufficiency.
Special Precautions
Triglycerides serum conc should not be >3 mmol/L during infusion. For single use only. Any fluid & electrolyte balance impairment should be corrected prior to IV administration.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions eg, anaphylaxis, skin redness, urticaria, resp symptoms eg, tachypnoea & HTN/hypotension. Haemolysis, reticulocytosis, abdominal pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue & priapism.
Drug Interactions
Heparin.
