Per actuation Ipratropium Br 21 mcg, fenoterol HBr 50 mcg
Indications/Uses
Prevention & treatment of symptoms in chronic obstructive airway disorders w/ reversible bronchospasm eg, bronchial asthma & especially chronic bronchitis w/ or w/o emphysema. Concomitant anti-inflammatory therapy should be considered in patients w/ bronchial asthma & steroid-responsive COPD.
Adult & childn >6 yrAcute asthma episodes 2 actuations. In more severe cases, if breathing has not noticeably improved after 5 min, 2 further actuations may be taken. Intermittent & long-term treatment: 1-2 actuations, max: 8 actuations/day (ave of 1-2 actuations 3 times daily).
Other β-adrenergics & anticholinergics, xanthine derivatives eg, theophylline may enhance bronchodilatatory effect & increase adverse reactions. Reduction in bronchodilatation may occur w/ β-blockers. Xanthine derivatives, corticosteroids & diuretics induce hypokalemia & may result in an increased susceptibility to arrhythmias in patient receiving digoxin. Enhanced action w/ MAOIs or TCAs. Halothane, trichloroethylene & enflurane increase the susceptibility on CV effects.
R03AL01 - fenoterol and ipratropium bromide ; Belongs to the class of combination of adrenergics with anticholinergics, that may also include a corticosteroid. Used in the treatment of obstructive airway diseases.
