HTN & may be used as a sole agent to control BP in most patients. Patients not adequately controlled on a single antihypertensive agent might benefit from amlodipine combined w/ thiazide diuretics, β-adrenoreceptor inhibitors, or ACE-inhibitors. Myocardial ischaemia due to fixed obstruction (stable angina) &/or vasospasm/vasoconstriction (Prinzmetal or variant angina) of coronary blood vessel. As monotherapy or in combination w/ other antianginal drugs in patients that is hard to control w/ nitrates &/or sufficient dosage of β-blockers; might be used in which the clinical parameter shows vasospasm/vasoconstriction although the symptoms have not appeared.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN 5 mg once daily. May be increased to 10 mg daily depending on individual patient response & severeness of the disease. Babies, fragile person, elderly or patients w/ impaired liver function Initially 2.5 mg once daily, may be used in combination w/ other antihypertensives. Chronic stable or vasospastic angina 5-10 mg daily, lower dose for elderly & patients w/ impaired liver function.
