Indications and Dosage
Oral
Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, Ear, nose and/or throat infections, Gonococcal urethritis in men, Lower respiratory tract infections, Otitis media, Pharyngotonsillitis, Pneumonia, Sinusitis, Tracheobronchitis, Urinary tract infections
Adult: 500 mg bid.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to penicillins. Renal insufficiency; lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, hypersensitivity reactions.
Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Cefetamet is a 3rd generation cephalosporin. It inhibits the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in the bacterial cell wall by binding to one or more of the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).
Storage
Store at 25°C.
