Sultamicillin: Ampicillin Na 1 g, sulbactam Na 0.5 g
Indications/Uses
Skin & skin structure infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynaecological infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1.5-3 g 6-8 hrly. Max daily dose of sulbactam: 4 g. Mild & moderate infections Up to 6 g. Severe infections Up to 12 g.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillin & sulbactam.
Special Precautions
Overgrowth of nonsusceptible organism. Check periodically for organ system dysfunction during extended therapy.
Adverse Reactions
Pain at inj site, thrombophlebitis, itching, gastritis, stomatitis, black "hairy" tongue, enterocolitis, pseudomembranous colitis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea. Hypersensitivity reactions, hepatic effects, blood disorders, renal effects.
Drug Interactions
Aminoglycosides, probenecid.
