TabAdult 0.5-9 mg in divided doses. Childn 6-12 yr 0.25-2 mg, 1-5 yr 0.25-1 mg, ≤1 yr 0.1-0.25 mg. To be given 2 times daily. InjIntensive therapy or emergency 2-4 mg 6-8 times daily. Max daily dose: 50 mg. Shock condition 1-6 mg/kg.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Peptic ulcer, osteoporosis, psychoses or severe psychoneuroses, active or quiescent TB; acute infection; live vaccines.
Efficacy may be reduced by phenytoin, phenobarb, rifampicin, vit A, tetracyclines & other antibiotics, thiazides. Oral anticoagulants, oral hypoglycaemics & salicylates.
