Ciprofloxacin HCl

Indications/Uses

UTI, urethritis, cervicitis, gonorrhoea. Resp tract infection, except pneumoniae caused by strep, GI, skin & soft tissue, bone & joint infection.

Dosage/Direction for Use

UTI Mild to moderate: 250 mg twice daily. Severe: 500 mg twice daily. Resp tract, bone & joint, skin & soft tissue infections Mild: 500 mg twice daily. Severe: 750 mg twice daily. GI infections 500 mg twice daily. Acute gonorrhoea 250 mg as single dose. Acute osteomyelitis Dose should not be <750 mg twice daily.

Administration

May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to minimise GI discomfort. Do not take w/ antacids, Fe or dairy products.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin & other quinolone derivatives. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn & adolescents before end of growth period.
