Anidulafungin
Indications/Uses
Candidemia in adult non-neutropenic patients, deep tissue Candida infections or w/ abscess-forming disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Loading dose: Single 200-mg dose administered on day 1, followed by 100 mg daily thereafter. Continue for at least 14 days after the last +ve culture.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to anidulafungin, other echinocandins (eg, caspofungin).
Special Precautions
Patients w/ increased hepatic enzymes should be monitored. Patients w/ rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance. Anaesth agents. Specimens for fungal culture should be obtained prior to therapy. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylactic reactions, rash, urticaria, flushing, pruritus, dyspnea, hypotension, thrombocytopenia, coagulopathy, hyperkalaemia, hypokalaemia, hypomagnesaemia, convulsion, headache, diarrhea, increased γ-glutamyltransferase, increased blood alkaline phosphatase, increased AST & ALT.
