Contents
Per g Lidocaine 25 mg, prilocaine 25 mg
Indications/Uses
Topical anesth for intact skin requiring local anesth effects.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 1.5 g/10 cm2 w/ occlusive dressing. Minor procedure Adult 2 g for min of 1 hr. Max: Childn 6-11 yr up to 20 g/200 cm2; 1- 5 yr up to 10 g/100 cm2; 3-12 mth 2 g/16 cm2 for 1-3 hr. Dermal procedure on larger area Adult 1.5-2 g/10 cm2 for a min of 2 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to amide type local anesth.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Do not apply to open wound & mucous membrane, skin w/ atopic dermatitis. Do not use for or area around the eyes which may cause corneal irritation. Not recommended for patients w/ congenital & idiopathic methaemoglobinaemia & infant <1 yr under treatment w/ methaemoglobin inducing agent. Dermal application may cause transient local erythema. Extensive application area or long term treatment is not recommended. Drug penetration or migration into tympanic membrane of middle ear is not recommended due to possible ototoxic effect. Severe liver disease. Not recommended during pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in infant <6 mth. Elderly, debilitated, & acute illness.
Adverse Reactions
Pruritus, edema, redness or paleness, allergic reaction on the application site, methaemoglobinaemia, & anaphylactic shock may occur.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ anti-arrhythmic drug may cause prolonged & synergistic effect. Should not be given in conjunction w/ methaemoglobinamea inducer drug eg, sulfonamide, phenacetin, phenobarb, primaquine.
